Position Overview: Under supervision and general direction of the Manager of Business Intelligence and Reporting Solutions, the Applications Administrator II - Power BI supports all aspects of technical application management and functional system administration of assigned applications for centralized, enterprise-level technology service delivery.
Helps to ensure the area’s technological level remains up to date, defines and abides standards, implements new procedures and techniques, and provides 24x7 availability support.
Helps with solutions to problems that may arise in an expeditious, efficient, and timely manner.
Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the University of Central Oklahoma.
Hybrid/remote option available.
Must complete on-site orientation up to 30 days as determined by position.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions: Responsible for system administration, solution design, installation, configuration, metadata management, business resiliency, user access controls, vulnerability management and general support of the enterprise Business Intelligence ecosystem of software applications.
Perform configuration, administration, and technical support of software application products.
Run necessary system backups.
Provide troubleshooting assistance on software application related issues.
Coordinates with other OIT departments for integration and connectivity.
Works with system administrators, database administrators, application administrators, software developers, and web administrators in installation/upgrades and maintaining services, as appropriate.
Participates in IT project committees and appropriate application user groups.
Install, patch, and configure the on-premises BI software applications: Microsoft Power BI gateway servers.
Support the implementation and administration of MS Power BI.
Monitor uptime and response time of the BI applications and servers.
Troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues.
Design, configure, and implement user access controls.
Manage system vulnerability risk to acceptable levels in a timely manner.
Deliver on Data Governance’s requirements for BI content metadata collection.
Effectively management incident and change management.
Creates and maintains documentation including diagrams, operational and support procedures.
Publishes client-facing support documents to improve user experience.
Maintain access, security, scalability and usability of assigned application(s).
Researches and communicates new features of assigned application(s) and unused tool functionality to drive the platform expansion and adoption.
Interacts with end users, service desk, team members and stakeholders in gathering information to define and document required changes to the environment.
Assists IT management in preparing business and use cases.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Experience Required: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or related field plus 2+ years of experience with BI tools or comparable work experience.
Experience with Power BI.
Experience installing, patching, and configuring enterprise class software packages.
Qualifications / Experience Preferred: Experience in automating processes through programming languages (such as Python or Java) or with applications automations tools like Power Automate.
Knowledge of Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) concepts and methodologies.
Knowledge of database platforms (Teradata, Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Postgres).
Excellent working knowledge in the use of database functions and packages within BI tools.
ITIL3 and ITIL4 certification Knowledge / Skills/ Abilities: Requires a strong functional understanding of software architecture.
Excellent working knowledge in the use of database functions and packages within BI tools.
Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, disseminate, and present significant amounts of information with an attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
Ability to facilitate team interaction and client meetings effectively.
Ability to work independently or with specialized group and maintain courteous attitude in dealing with students, faculty, and staff.
Manage and prioritize work effectively with minimal supervision.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Professional.

This position may be assigned 24x7x365 on-call rotation responsibilities and requires the successful candidate to have high-speed internet access to their residence, and maintain a smart phone on which to receive telephone calls, email, SMS messages from servers and authorized OIT personnel.
