This role of Enterprise Monitoring Analyst is to ensure the uptime and health of all Paycom technology applications and systems.
The Enterprise Monitoring team is responsible for all tools that monitor the technology stack and managing all application health issues from initial alerting through post-resolution documentation.
As an analyst you will assist the team in the architecture, configuration, and maintenance of all Enterprise Monitoring tools and processes, as well as participate in issue discovery, remediation, and documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the architecture and administration of monitoring and log management systems.
Work across technical teams to define technical KPIs and design proper monitors for them
Work support tickets assigned to the Enterprise Monitoring team
Develop views and reports for management's awareness into the technical health of Paycom's infrastructure
Work with vendors to ensure we are properly licensed and up to date on renewals
Capacity planning and implementation for team-owned systems
Develop team documentation for day to day duties and gained team knowledge
Keep systems properly configured, updated, healthy, hardened and scaled to meet the needs of the business
Use technical expertise to support the company's usage and searching of Splunk
Work with various technology team to pro-actively evaluate monitoring gaps and unnecessary alerting.
Be responsible for and act as subject matter expert on any assigned systems.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
3+ years of professional IT experience
2+ years supporting systems and servers
1+ years administrating monitoring technologies such as Splunk, web-transaction monitoring, server monitoring
2+ years administrating windows servers
Skills/Abilities:
Monitoring technologies such as log monitoring, SNMP, ICMP, WMI, web transactions
Log aggregation and parsing technologies such as Splunk or the ELK stack
Alerting technologies leveraging apps, email, SMS, and push notifications
Good understanding of web application architecture and technologies
Build Splunk reports and dashboards
Ability to configure Splunk, ingest new data sources, build out field extractions, define permissions
Linux and Windows server administration applying patches, ensuring health, right-sizing, ensuring quality DR architecture, and troubleshooting problems
Data retention planning
Networking
Practical encryption and SSL certificate usage
Evaluate, research and problem solve technical problems using log data
Analyze and build actionable reports for executive leadership using log insights
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Info Sys, Computer Science or related fields
Splunk Certified Admin/Architect
MTA/MCSE
ITIL
GIAC/CISSP certs
Experience:
Monitoring experience within an enterprise environment
Implementation of a greenfield solution
High availability and disaster recovery planning and design
Skills/Abilities:
Webserver administration
Multi-node system architecture planning and design
Load-balancing concepts and deployments
Scripting languages
Database administration and writing SQL queries
Storage administration, redundant systems, identity workflows
