The Civil Engineer II shall provide professional engineering services in support of the Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center (FAALC) mission to assure that electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems and components meet FAA requirements for supply support, maintainability, serviceability, and reliability.
These services may be provided to any requesting FAALC Product Division or Group.
The Contractor shall perform investigative technical evaluations and studies necessary to complete the information requested.
System engineering services required to complete the request include research on reparability of equipment including repair sources, equipment reliability and obsolescence.
The Engineer will support Program Office activities to include assisting FAALC Integrated Logistics Support Managers (ILSMs), Provisioners and management in the setup and supply support activities necessary to ensure the FAALC can support and/or sustain new system equipment.
The Engineer will complete other duties as assigned to include Technician and Production Control Support, Field Support, and Product Structures.
Perform civil/structural engineering specification development, analysis and design, state/local ordinance compliance reviews, and technical oversight of structure construction and maintenance work.
Provide the technical expertise, materials, and fabrication effort to design, install, test, and evaluate equipment.
Perform calculation of loads and stresses on structures, investigation to determine strength and integrity of foundations and structural beams and associated structural components.
Determination of whether or not a structure and loads on the structure are within the design specification of the structure with appropriate considerations of environmental impacts such as wind, rain, snow & ice.
Use findings to determine if the structure will function safely.
Investigate, determine causal factors (e.
g.
, material, environmental, process, etc.
), and resolve structural engineering problems through application of structural engineering techniques such as mechanics, hydraulics, structures, engineering geology, and surveying.
Review geotechnical and topographical data to ensure it meets foundational requirements.
Provide technical support to field organizations through telephone assistance or onsite assistance.
Provide equipment installation, and other maintenance related support for Headquarters National Airway System, ATO Service Areas programs and projects, and other Government agencies requiring FAALC support.
Provide technical and logistical support for new systems acquisitions by participating in systems level integration, validation, certification of equipment and other acquisition support as required.
Provide technical and logistics support for configuration audit management and provisioning efforts associated with supply support objectives.
Provide complete drafting services in support of the FAALC including operations and maintenance of the drafting file system, reproduction of drawings, preparation of engineering drawings, electronic artwork and electronic media.
Education
A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university is required
Experience
Experience shall include performing analyses of buildings/facilities, foundations and structural components and systems, developing specifications, designing modifications and revisions and producing engineering technical documentation.
