Hey all, I posted an ad concerning this back in March/April and had a positive experience, so I’m going to try this again.
For anyone who has contacted me before, DON’T HESITATE TO HIT ME BACK! It’s been a crazy year and I feel I’m just not back to some semblance of normalcy and less craziness.
Speak, Memory is looking for an experienced/professional bassist.
We have been nationally recognized, being featured in such publications as BrooklynVegan, Bandcamp, and the Big Takeover.
Our most recent recording (notably mixed by Bartees Strange, 4AD Records recording artist) has shipped vinyl to different countries (UK and Japan, notably).
We have some connections with some heavy hitters in the music industry.
Important Requirements:
* Looking for a bassist that, outside of having Midwest Emo/Math Rock influences, has other influences like jazz and any technical type of skill! The songs are not a walk in the park, so being a fan of the genre and being technically proficient is VERY important.
These are our influences:
American Football, The Appleseed Cast, toe, Further Seems Forever, Covet, Chon, Noyes, Owls, Ghosts & Vodka, Mouse on the Keys, Caspian, Snowing, Algernon Cadwallader, football, etc.
, Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate), Rooftops, Enemies, Braid, The Get Up Kids, Mineral, Christie Front Drive, 1994!, Don Caballero, Roadside Monument, Make Believe, HUM, Joan of Arc, Owen, etc.
* Looking for a bassist that has their own gear.
* Looking for a bassist that doesn't have ANY substance abuse issues.
Completely ok if you go for a beer or two responsibly and like to unwind with a little MJ, but if you're popping pills to the point that you feel you need to check yourself into rehab and/or have an inability to function normally, this band is not for you.
* Looking for a bassist that can learn the material we already have in a reasonable amount of time.
* Looking for a bassist between 27-39.
